L'eau pour les peuples autochtones est la base de toute la vie. Au début des temps, le Créateur a donné des instructions pour les peuples autochtones de respecter l'eau, l'air et la terre en le gardant pure. Ces instructions originales sont reflétées dans la culture autochtone, les croyances et les valeurs.

Les autochtones de la côte  du Nord-Ouest sont situées leurs sites des villages sur les rivières et les rivages clés . Leurs totems sont des expressions vivantes de leur respect et leur dépendance à l'égard de la terre, l'eau et le ciel .

Water for Aboriginal peoples is the basis of all life. At the beginning of time, the Creator gave instructions to Aboriginal peoples to respect water, air, and the earth by keeping it pure. These original instructions are reflected in Aboriginal culture, beliefs and values.

Northwest Coast Indians located village sites on key rivers and shores. Totems poles are vivid expressions of their respect and dependence on the land, water and sky.

 Did you know that human beings are almost 60% water? 
                                                                Sérieux?!?

Mme. Wood showed you the video of Dr. Masaru Emoto's theory with consciousness and water. What were some of the main ideas/thoughts/questions you came up with? 

                                        



Après avoir lu l'article Honouring Water vous discuterez de vos idées, sur papier, avec un partenaire, des façon dont les croyances de l'eau des Premières nations sont justifiées dans l'expérience du Dr Emoto. Voyez-vous des similitudes? Des différences ?

Vous et votre partenaire doit réfléchir et répondre:

- Quelles sont les méthodes scientifiques qui sont démontrés ?
- La croyance en quelque chose le fait (plus) valide ?
- Comment cette expérience prouve que la science et les idéologies des Premières nations co -exister ?
- Devraient les cultures de l'Europe et de l'Occidentale adhèrent aux croyances des Premières nations que l'eau est sacrée et doit être protégée à tout prix?


After reading the article Honouring Water discuss your ideas, on paper with a partner, (both partners need to write down the answers in their Inquiry duotangs, about how the First Nations beliefs of water are justified in Dr. Emoto's experiment. Can you see any similarities? Any differences?

You and your partner should think about and answer:

- What scientific methods were demonstrated?
- Does believing in something make it (more) valid? 
- How does this experiment prove that science and First Nation ideologies co-exist?
- Should Western and European cultures adhere to the First Nation beliefs that water is sacred and needs to be protected at all costs? 

Now before you leave, think about this, if thoughts can be perceived to affect water, what can it do to us?

Nous sommes dans notre deuxième semaine de notre projet d'enquête des Premières Nations. À ce moment, vous devriez avoir une zone d'intérêt et avoir une idée de la façon dont il se connecte à la communauté des Premières Nations. Si vous n'avez rien encore, ne désespérez pas !! Ce blog a été créé pour vous aider avec votre enquête et pour obtenir une meilleure compréhension des événements qui se passe autour de vous; qu'elles soient fondées sur les questions de la Première nation ou non.

We are in our second week of our First Nations inquiry project. At this point you should have an area of interest and have SOME idea of how it connects to the First Nations community. If you do not, don't dispair!! This blog was created to help you with your inquiry and get a deeper understanding of the event that happen around you, whether based on First NAtion issues or not.

Pour vous aidez à planifier:To help you plan:

Identify what the task requires. 
(Answer one of the inquiry questions. Create your own inquiry from your research. Create a visual representation. ex: Song, installation, cookbook/3 course meal, climate change action plan for the UN, lotions and lip balms, a new math curriculum)

Identify criteria for success.

 Am I using my time to the best of my ability? Are Ms. Kuhn and Mme. Wood helping me with skills to find my research? Have I identified mini-lessons I need them to teach?


Make an appropriate plan for completing the task.

Are you setting yourself small daily goals? Am I filling out my sheets? Am I conferencing with Ms. Kuhn and Mme. Wood?

Remember to self-evaluate every day:

4= deeply rooted in understand  - I totally get and can teach it

3= strongly rooted in understanding - I get it and can explain it

2= some roots in understanding - I kinda get it and it’s starting to make sense

1= just sprouting in understanding - I don’t get it yet.. I’m going to get it through

Residential Schools- Consequences, reasons, treaties.
Identity-What constitutes FN status? Why do we forget our heritage? Reclaiming identity. Gender and gender issues.
Art- Modern art, dance, music, throat singing, rap, spoken word, carvings, sculpture, Graphic novels, comics, architects and designers, fashion designers, aesthetics. 
Medicine- Organic remedies, cures, healing circles, Asprin, syringes 

Ceremonies and rituals- Connections to ancestors, dance, purifying ceremonies, smudges

Legends and oral histories-oral texts, purpose, myths (why do they have them?) 
Science-Connections to nature, FN consultants to the UN on climate change, ideologies and myths in science, diseases and preventions.
Math- Similarities and differences within fundamental applications,based on "real" ideas, play with numbers. Practical vs. impractical. 
Inventions- FN contributions to modern day life. 
War- Survival techniques and adaptations, military strategies, 
Food- Crop rotation, new wave restaurants, cooking within one's means, sustainability, Iroquois farming techniques(three sisters)

TÂCHE HEBDOMADAIRE/WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT:

TACHE:

Chaque semaine, en conjonction avec tes recherches, tu dois écrire une réponse d'opinion en français ET anglais pour montrer tes connaissances. Les réponses d'opinions ne doivent pas être basés sur ta questions d'enquête, mais plutôt sur des intérêts personnelles. 

ATTENTES: 

Chaque étudiante doit remettre quatre réponses personnelles à ce qu'il on lu dans les nouvelles basé sur les Premières Nations. Deux réponses vont être en ANGLAIS ( placer sur le tableau d'affichage de Mme. Kuhn) et 2 réponses en FRANÇAIS (qui seront placés sur le tableau d'affichage de Mme. Wood.) C'est tes PROPRES opinions alors tu peux écrire ce que tu veux, mais tu dois avoir une opinion. 

TASK: 

Every week , in conjunction with your research, you have to write an opinion response to show your knowledge of something you read based on First Nations issues. The responses of your opinions should not be based on your inquiry questions , but rather on personal interests.

EXPECTATIONS: 

Each student will submit four personal responses to what they have read in the news. two responses will be in English (to be placed on a bulletin board in Mrs. Kuhn's room) and two responses will be in French (to be placed in Mme. Wood's room. This is your personal opinion so write what about what you want, just make sure YOU have an opinion about it. (Mme. Wood's French 8/9 class will have to present an opinion to Mme. Wood without notes)
